Pulse Heart Institute
Project in Progress
Role: Project and Content Manager, IA Designer
Pulse Institute is the cardiac specialty within MultiCare Health System. The main goals of the redesign are to convince to referring providers that this is a good place to send their patients, make it easy for them to get in touch. The secondary objectives were to improve the aesthetic and brand of the site and make it easy for patients to find location information.
Background and team:
This redesign began about a year ago, when the executive team decided they wanted to refresh the site. I joined the company and the project during the wireframe phase and was pulled to give feedback on the mockups. I’m working with the Director of Digital Marketing, the Director of Brand, the Pulse Institute Communications Manager and the team at SiteCrafting, our webdev vendor, to push this project forward.
Research:
The team completed stakeholder interviews to work from at the beginning of the project. The goals were broadly to create a more welcoming, brand-representative site, make it easier for referring providers to refer, and for patients to find locations.
Steps so far:
To address those main objectives, we went for a cleaner, more image focused aesthetic. To make it easier to find out how to get in touch, we included a provider finder in the new design, made the locations filterable, and worked with Lisa to get one phone number at Pulse that could be called with questions and referrals.
I specifically worked with the main designer on the internal navigation, including breadcrumbs above the page titles so that users would be clear on where they were in the larger structure of the site, no matter what page they were on.
Last month I presented these designs to the Pulse executive team alongside the Director of Brand. They approved and were excited to move forward.
Next steps:
The web development vendor we work with is currently building the new UI and CMS. It will be an editable site we can add and move content within.
In the meantime, we’re prepping the content to go in this new container.
I’m working with Lisa to try and identify user research participants. We’d like to have some findings from user testing intervews to help shape how we organize the site materials, so that the information most important to users is at the top.
I’m particularly interested in how we might be able to pare down the main navigation to make the options clear and clean.
